What are some things to look for that will help you choose the best VSC company and coverage for you?

  • World Class Customer Service
  • Claims Reputation
  • Benefits Such As Rental, Towing, etc.
  • Financial Stability

Does my contract cover pre-existing conditions?

No, it does not. It is important that you make sure to have any problems your car has now resolved by your new car warranty before it ends. If you are covered by an EasyCare contract and your car suffers a failure the day after manufacturer warranty ends, you'll be covered. But if the failure actually happened some time ago your problem may not be covered by either EasyCare or the manufacturer. Further, if your problem is a result of accident, abuse, neglect, or failure to perform scheduled maintenance you may not have coverage for certain problems. So it’s very important to be sure your car’s service is up to date.

What about the extended factory powertrain warranty?

Those warranties are good because they cover the major drive line components. Manufacturers are extending that coverage out to five or more years because customers are keeping their vehicles longer. We offer economical terms that provide more comprehensive coverage of the more sophisticated components of your vehicle. These plans ‘wrap’ around the factory powertrain warranty and provide an added level of security.

Does my EasyCare contract provide benefits when my car is still under new car warranty?

Yes! Many of our plans offer substantial benefits right from day one — roadside assistance, towing, and rental reimbursement, to name a few. Contact us to discuss the benefits of your particular plan.

*What other benefits can an EasyCare contract provide?

EasyCare contracts provide these valuable additional benefits:

  • Rental car coverage for a covered repair
  • Zero deductible road hazard coverage on tires and wheels for TotalCare and StatedCare contract holders
  • Towing coverage for a covered repair
  • Trip interruption — food and lodging — for up to 3 days if your vehicle needs a covered repair more than 50 miles from home
  • Renewability — you can now purchase a new contract prior to the expiration of your current contract
  • Transferability — if you sell your car to another private party you can now transfer the contract to the buyers
*See contract for additional terms and conditions.

Is my vehicle eligible for EasyCare coverage?

Coverage is available for new vehicles and pre-owned vehicles up to 11 model years old and 150,000 miles. Specific eligibility is determined at the authorized EasyCare dealership and by APCO.

What kinds of vehicles are not covered and why?

EasyCare does not cover exotic vehicles. For example, Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Ferrari are types of vehicles that we do not cover. In addition, there are some exotic domestic vehicles which we do not cover (e.g. Ford GT40, Saleen Mustang, Panoz, etc.). Those vehicles are typically hand crafted and have incredibly expensive parts. Covering those vehicles would skew the pricing for coverage on other vehicles.

We also do not cover higher mileage used vehicles (with more than 150,000 miles on the odometer), or used vehicles after they are purchased from a dealer. In other words, our used vehicle coverage is only available from a dealer at the time that you purchase your vehicle. We do that because the dealer has an agreement to inspect the vehicle and make sure that it is in proper working order before they sell the vehicle and the contract. If there is a failure within the first 30 days then we work together with the dealer to get the issue resolved.

There are companies that will sell contracts on exotic vehicles and on older vehicles over the internet. And, it may look like the price for those contracts is really inexpensive. It is important to understand that there are companies that followed that same or similar business model that are no longer in business and their customers are left holding a worthless piece of paper.

Our goal is to make sure that we can provide a worth while product at a reasonable price for our customers. And, a key component of that goal is to make sure that we are here to take care of our customers down the road when they need us.  We've been doing this for over 23 years and we have the structure and the resources to continue to take care of our customers for many more years

Where can I buy an EasyCare VSC?

EasyCare VSCs are available at over 3,000 automobile dealerships nationwide. To find a participating dealership near you contact us at info@easycare.com or visit the Feedback section of this website.

Why are EasyCare VSCs only available at dealerships?

It’s important for your vehicle to be maintained properly in order for the VSC to stay active. It’s also important for the dealer to be able to work with you to maintain your vehicle. They know your vehicle and how to maintain it at the best possible level. Let’s be honest, the dealer wants to be able to build a relationship with you so that when it’s time to buy your next vehicle, they’re at the top of your list. A service contract will help you keep your vehicle in prime condition without any hidden surprises. The dealership will be able to provide excellent service so that you will be a satisfied customer.

Are service contracts and extended warranties the same?

Service contracts take over when the manufacturer warranty ends. Because good contracts closely follow the coverage of a new car warranty many people call them “extended warranties”. But the correct term is service contract, because a warranty is automatically provided with a vehicle (or washing machine, or computer) from the manufacturer at no additional charge to the consumer. A service contract is an optional coverage purchased at a separate price by the consumer. When you purchase a service contract, you can have the flexibility to select the level of coverage you want.

How long do contracts last?

Up to 10 years or 100,000 miles from the purchase date of the contract. For example, when a customer buys a 5 year term their coverage expires 5 years from the day that they buy the contract. Mileage expires when the odometer mileage on the vehicle reaches the mileage term selected. Term availability is based on the age of the vehicle and the mileage on the odometer at the time of sale. So, higher mileage vehicles will have terms with shorter durations available. In these examples, the contract expiration would be based on the number of years from the purchase date or when the vehicle’s odometer reaches 100,000 miles.

Example 1: Brand New Vehicle Example 2: Program Vehicle Example 3: Trade In Vehicle

Why should I choose EasyCare over inexpensive contracts I see offered online?

There are many reasons. Three of them are:

  1. The company’s ability to pay your claims. What good is the contract you bought online if the company goes broke next year? APCO has been in the business since 1984. And XL Capital, their insurance carrier, has $59 billion in assets.
  2. How the repair is covered. Many “bargain” contracts will not cover labor at normal shop rates, which makes repair facilities reluctant to work with some VSC companies. EasyCare will pay normal labor rates.
  3. Claims payment. Off-price companies require you to pay for a repair and wait for reimbursement. EasyCare contracts will pay the repair shop directly and quickly, and they are accepted by new car dealers throughout the country.

Is my contract transferable to the next owner?

Yes. One of the most valuable features is transferability. You can sell your car to a friend with confidence because the coverage can be transferred to them with no interruption. This can increase the value of your car substantially, as well as making it more desirable.

How do you determine what to pay for a particular claim?

EasyCare’s administrators will pay the repair shop of your choice their regular hourly rate, provided it is consistent with prevailing rates in your area. The total time covered will be based upon industry standard “flat rate” repair guides. Most parts are covered based upon the same standard repair guides. Once the repairs are done, EasyCare will pay the repair shop directly by check or credit card.
